Brooklyn Free Space is a cooperative preschool in Park Slope, Brooklyn, serving children ages 2–5. Our play-based, Reggio Emilia–inspired approach centers children’s curiosity, relationships, creativity, and ideas. We are always interested in connecting with thoughtful, collaborative early childhood educators who enjoy learning alongside young children and being part of a warm, engaged school community.

🍎 Current Opportunities

Part-Time Substitute Teachers

BFS seeks caring, flexible substitute teachers to support our classrooms when regular teaching staff are absent. Substitute teachers work alongside members of our teaching team to help maintain the familiar routines, relationships, and experiences of the children’s school day. Substitute teachers may support children during classroom play and exploration, meetings, meals, transitions, outdoor time, rest, and other parts of the daily routine.

🌱 Part-Time Assistant Teachers

Assistant teachers work collaboratively with classroom teachers to create nurturing, engaging environments where children can play, explore, build relationships, and develop greater independence. Assistant teachers participate throughout the school day, supporting classroom experiences, observing and engaging with children, helping care for the classroom environment, and contributing as members of the teaching team.
