A note from Takiema:
I’m deeply honored to have been selected as the Executive Director of BFS. As I have gotten to know the community, I have been truly inspired by the care, thoughtfulness, and dedication that administrators, families, educators, and board members bring to sustaining and strengthening BFS.
Throughout my career, I have been guided by the belief that the strongest school communities are rooted in trust, partnership, and a shared commitment to children. BFS embodies these values, and I am excited to work alongside you in that spirit. I am committed to honoring the school's history while working with the BFS community to shape its next chapter with care, collaboration, and purpose.
In the months ahead, I look forward to listening deeply, building relationships, and learning from the experiences and perspectives that make the BFS community so special for children and for all of the adults who make this community thrive. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the BFS community and look forward to a year of partnership, learning, and growth.
Learning at Brooklyn Free Space
Brooklyn Free Space is a preschool for children who are between the ages of 2 years old to 4 years, 8 months old at the beginning of each school year (September 30th of that school year).
BFS offers a full day program for our 61 children, with students attending 9 am–3 pm. We also offer Extended Day Program option from 8 - 9 am and 3 - 6 pm.
It is the relationship between teachers, children and families that makes our learning environment so special.
